Greene Avenue Dining Bench.

This bench was part of a two piece project for a client on Greene Avenue in Brooklyn.  The body + top of the bench are solid red oak.  The joinery consists of 10 mortise and tenons, and the edge profile is a 1/4″ round-over with a 45 degree chamfer on the bottom edge.   The bench, along with the table, was finished at the client’s request to match their existing kitchen.  The finish consists of a layering of colors which were warmed with shellac and finished with a waterborne acrylic topcoat.  The dimensions are 68″ long x 13.5″ wide x 18″ high.  The entire bench can also dock directly under the table top, to provide extra floor space when not in use.
